An average person sleeps 6-8 hours everyday. You spend at least a quarter of your day sleeping and it’s the time your skin repairs itself. The first thing you need to do before you sleep is to get rid of traces of makeup and dirt. Choose a good cleanser that can remove makeups, thick eyeliners and mascaras. Change linens and pillowcases at least twice a month. Dust and dirt are everywhere and these can land on your sheets. It’s necessary to change sheets from time to time so your face and body won’t be sleeping on a dirty area. You might not know, there are even bacterial growth on them causing your acne.
- Use new clothes every night. At night, you may be sweating and this can stick on your clothes. When you’re prone to acne, it’s recommended to use new clothes everyday. Moist clothes can harbor bacteria that can stick to your skin causing acne. Make it a habit to use newly washed and ironed clothes day and night.
- When you have long hair, tie it before sleeping. When you’re asleep you have no idea you might be eating your hair or your hair is already covering your face. Good if you have washed your hair before sleeping, if not, all the dirt goes into your face and mouth.
- If possible, sleep with your face up. This will make your pores breathe for skin regeneration. Sleeping either on the side of your face produces friction. Friction can enable production of heat which can stimulate release of oils and sweat. These are grounds for the bacteria to grow causing breakout.
- If you live in an unpolluted community or neighborhood, try sleeping with your windows open. Fresh and clean air is healthier for your body than using the air conditioner. You get lots of oxygen from the air promoting better skin.
- Get enough and good quality of sleep. Even if you sleep for 8 hours at night but you’re often disturbed by several things, you’ll still be experiencing stress. A poor quality of sleep makes the body prone to breakouts due to the release of stress hormones and activity of sweat and oil glands.
- These tips will help fight off acne not only on the day but also throughout the night while you sleep. It’s even better to be maintaining your face at night while you sleep rather that throughout the day while you’re awake. During the day, you can always wash off whenever you feel dirty or sticky.
